Naval Helicopter Pilot/Crew Training Program

Training a navy helicopter pilot is something very different from training any other helicopter pilot. We fly mission profiles and conduct normal flight unlike anything seen by the army, marine, or air force helicopter schools. As a result, our training program is very individual, and tailored to each pilot's specialty within HELSEACOMBATWINGLANT.

As a new pilot in the HSCWL applying for training from FSXF HTS, please make sure to specify the following in your traning application:

  • That you are training as a navy pilot for HSCWL
  • Your helicopter flight experience to date (this will help us decide where to start your real training)
  • What airframe you will specialize in (SH-60F, HH-60H, or MH-60S). This will determine what advanced training you will receive.
Once your application is in, you may be trained by more than one instructor. Any pilot qualified in the naval H-60 aircraft may give you your basic helicopter training (listed here), and may do so if LT Webb is unavailable. However, your final training in tactics and naval operations (this will take the place of Lesson 10 for Naval pilots because we don't air-refuel) will be given by LT Webb or another naval HTS instructor if there is one.

FOR QUALIFIED PILOTS:

If you would like to be deck-qualified for naval operations, be sure to get in contact with LT Webb, and he will arrange for a quick training session with you that will sort you out in whatever parts of naval operations or ASW you may be interested in.
