Welcome to the Tridents of HS-3!

As the most diverse squadron in the FSX Fleet, and its only Navy helicopter squadron, the Tridents are in constant action and fulfill the Fleet's every imaginable role for naval helicopter use, and then some. We are based at Naval Station Norfolk.

Squadron Profile

HS-3 is the most versatile squadron in the FSX Fleet Navy, and in fact fulfills so many roles that every squadron pilot is qualified in three H-60 based airframes: the SH-60F (Seahawk) we use for antisubmarine operations, the MH-60S (Knighthawk) we use for transport and vertical replenishment (VERTREP), and the HH-60H (Jayhawk) we use for combat antitank, fire suppression/support search-and-rescue, and covert insertion operations. We are continually at the front lines of three elements of naval operations: logistics, antisubmarine warfare, and frontline combat troop insertion, both at sea and on land. Being the Navy's only helicopter squadron, HS-3 has also created a Detachment West at NS North Island to aid FLTFORPAC operations. They are currently deployed with CVW-11. The following is an easier-to-read list of squadron airframes and their roles:

  • SH-60F: Seahawk, specifically called the Foxtrot.
    • Antisubmarine Warfare (ASW). Uses sonobuoys, the AQS-13 dipping sonar, a MAD detector, look-down radar, and is armed with the Mk 46 torpedo.
  • MH-60S: Knighthawk
    • Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP). One 9000lb capacity winch.
    • Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR). Uses M-60/240, GAU-16/17 machine guns, and crew winch.
  • HH-60H: Rescue Hawk, known to us as the Jayhawk.
    • Antitank/Hard Target support. Uses AGM-114 Hellfire AGM
    • Antiship. Uses AGM-119 Penguin ASM
    • Fire suppression/support. Uses M-60/240, GAU-16/17 machine guns.
    • Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR). Uses same as above, and crew winch.
    • Covert Insertion. Uses same as above, sometimes with hellfire mounted. Can also support airborne sniper operations.
